Astrology at Work - Mars

Of all the 'planets' you can use the 'god of war' - Mars is the one to work with. If you know where your natal Mars is located by sign or house you should focus 'his' energy in the areas associated with the sign or house. When Mars enters a sign (or house) he brings increased awareness and if you don't use this to your advantage he sets up an internal struggle - causing frustration, annoyance and exasperation. Mars transits (movements) offer the following information:

Mars visiting the 1st - You'll be experiencing an increase of energy so be careful in what you think and do. It's a good time for physical activity, get outdoors doing something that uses up this excess energy or make time for relaxation and let nature take its course! Mars means energy and all 'Martian' traits are emphasised now, including the risk of accidents, cuts, bruises and infections! Focus your 'energy' in a positive manner (constructively rather than destructively).With Mars being the planet of 'war' you can expect some kind of 'war' going on in your sexual life for your sexual drive may well be increased and if not focussed accordingly all sorts of interesting scenario's might appear tempting...

Mars visits the 2nd - Becoming more interested in sex (opposite or otherwise) during this transit and not afraid to show it! You'll be the life and soul of any party, go dancing, meet people, accept invitations and get rid of some of that surplus energy however, don't go to excess. Avoid people, who are too self-centred, you'll only argue with them or, be blamed for some of the things they do or say! Any lack of harmony, brings frustration into your sex life leaving you feeling unsatisfied and even unwell or, reckless! With Mars being the planet of energy, focus you're thinking on how you can increase your income or, make more money for yourself and loved ones, in fact, you may even receive a gift or extra money

Transiting Mars into the 3rd - you'll have increased mental energy during this period, identifying strongly with your ideas, and fight for anything you believe in (conversely, meeting others who are just as assertive/ aggressive in defending his or her ideas.) The extra mental energies you posses now are good for business and professional ambitions; however watch any impulsive decisions and impatience doesn't ruin work already done! Take care when driving, accidents will occur when you are angry or acting too hastily; these are preventable with a little forethought.

Transiting Mars into your 4th - Don't act in haste and don't get angry about unimportant things for a lot can be accomplished now; channel your energy wisely, and don't let it explode indiscriminately. Your health will be a little under par from being more excitable where those around you might be irritable and difficult to handle therefore express your anger, but do it in a controlled way. This sector of your chart has everything to do with the house or home and is favourable for making changes - even moving! Remembering, it's when a planet first enters a house or leaves a house that you can 'see' or 'fee' the effect...

Mars visiting your 5th - You'll have increased physical energy and drive, feel more authoritative and self-expressive and need to be physically active, get outside and do something that uses up your excess energy.

Mars transiting this sector is a good time to start a new project or projects and whatever you do, do it with energy and confidence. This can be a good time for a flutter or speculation, romance and social activities - create them. Remembering what you get is what you give (consciously or unconsciously) for this is the house of the love (life) you have to give and 'making babies' is in the air...

Transiting Mars into the 6th - Industrious, efficient, tireless, dynamic and active in your workplace/business with a tendency towards irritation and impatience with co-workers, employees or others who lack these qualities - that's you at this time! Increased vitality and strong recuperative powers are indicated yet, running a fever (perhaps higher than normal) if illness strikes! There's also a danger of burns, scalds, and accidents sustained in the course of work or employment - happening as a result of impulse, haste, and impatience. Like it or not it'll be necessary during this transit to force yourself into seeking a quiet place/ space to recoup your strength. Remember the word discipline and control any temper!

Mars visiting the 7th - Where you'll attract and respond to the many different circumstances, people, situations and events in your life for by a quirk of fate we often project the things we LOVE or, conversely the things we HATE onto others during this transit! You're very much attracted to the opposite (same?) sex in this period, and not afraid of showing it. Family disputes can bring on nervous tension and feelings of insecurity are also common, be careful that those whom you attract into your life do not 'rock your emotional boat' too much for this could produce a violent reaction in either party! Wanting to be or becoming more independent and wanting your own way are all possible now (divorce?)

Transiting Mars into the 8th - Keep away from crowds, dangerous places and risk taking / survival situations at this time! Interestingly this is a favourable time for athletes, scientists, or for self-improvement for you have the power to change your life NOW. Don't force your ideas onto others, and watch out for people who try to force their ideas onto you. Be diplomatic, and use good judgement for if you use this energy creatively, you can transform your world, recognise this and control it.

Mars visiting your 9th - This is a wonderful time for business expansion, a big trip, or dealing with foreign clients, look for a job, or train for a new one! Physically, you're at a peak, but don't let your boisterous confidence lead to over-confidence creating accident or injury. You'll want to initiate big projects, you're confident and positive, however be careful, you're not overestimating your present capabilities and take on more than you can really handle! Ideas for making a 'quick profit' should be shelved, think long term goals not short term satisfaction. Don't choose this time to become involved in court battles but if you do, make sure you present yourself in the best possible light and not too aggressive.

Transiting Mars into the 10th - You'll be working harder than usual at this time, incurring heavy responsibilities. If your work is disciplined and organised, you'll get good results. If your work (and how you're seen) is sloppy or unfocused you'll meet with frustration and anger! Be seen in your best possible light and don't even think of venturing into public without a shave or makeup...

There may be conflict with the authorities (remembering the 10th house is also the house of the same sex parent- an authority figure) and you may feel restricted somehow. Work at a steady, even pace, don't exhausting yourself by doing too much.

Transiting Mars into the 11th - This is a time of explosive energy and unexpected events - on a personal level you'll be independent of everything and everyone! Don't move too fast and you'll avoid accidents, taking care with things made of metal! There could be news of a friend involved in an accident/incident or to be in some kind of trouble! Consciously or unconsciously, you'll want to be free to act in any way you choose, rebelling against anyone or anything that holds you back! Working with or coming to understand modern electronic gadgets/equipment will satisfy your creativity.

Mars visiting your 12th - Take care of your physical and mental health, conserving your energy.You'll experience greater psychic awareness now, and may even have the ability to heal; alternatively, you may receive a healing from some source! You'll give yourself unselfishly to others just be careful of being taken advantage of by people who are using you! Deceptive actions in your business affairs are possible where secret and dishonest actions cause you anger! Make sure your own actions are truthful and above board and not deluding yourself - say what you mean and mean what you say...

Astrology - Fall Equinox 2010, Revelation, Clarity And Right Action

Fall Equinox is the 'official' start of autumn (fall) marked by the Sun moving into the sign of Libra. Day and night are both of equal length and thus are in perfect balance. This year this happens at 4.10am on Thursday 23rd September (BST) if you're in the UK, or at 11.10pm on Wednesday if you're on the east coast USA (EDT).

I'm always looking for the spiritual significance of Astrological events, and this time noticed that the Sun (self/health) in Libra (harmonizing/balancing) forms an inconjunct to Neptune (spiritualizing pole) in Aquarius (groups/humanity). Taking my home town of Liverpool, UK as the location, this happens in the 6th house of health and healing.

You might ask 'who pays attention to inconjuncts?' Well I do... when the the degree is 3º33' as it is in this case. That's what got my attention. I always sit up and take notice of 333 configurations! According to Doreen Virtue, 333 sequences tell us the Ascended Masters are with us. Seems like Divine guidance to me.

Remember too, that the Angel of Libra is overseeing and balancing the current Pluto in Capricorn transit (2008-2023). Just to recap: during this transit we can expect Pluto, the planet of transformation that transforms by dragging everything up from the dark into the light for healing (revealing the darker side of our psyche and leaving nothing hidden), to transform our political, governing and financial institutions (Capricorn).

We are evolving from the lower Capricorn energy of abusing authority for personal gain, to the highest Capricorn vibration of enlightened governance and distribution of the world's resources for the good of all: including how we acknowledge and use our spiritual resources (Capricorn is the sign of the spiritual disciple).

There is a strong Libra influence during this transit to modify, harmonize and balance ethical decision-making and develop 'right' relationships with one another to ensure we don't go to extremes in our reactions to the Plutonian upheaval

Every year, as we enter the Fall Equinox, the Libra Full Moon cycle brings important balancing and modifying energy. Libra rules ethics, justice, transpersonal love and 'right human relations'. Interesting that here in the UK we hold all our political party conferences at around this time, and this year one of the major parties chose Liverpool as their conference venue. I wonder if they had Astrologers on the organizing team! (The Equinox energy affects everybody, not just people in Liverpool or the UK).

This year the 'inconjunct' offers a potential window of opportunity. Inconjuncts vary in their effects but this one could allow Neptune to offer intermittent waves of spiritualizing energy to raise the vibration of the Libra effect to its' highest spiritual purpose. Its' effect could serve to 'disillusion' people with the current systems, so we turn our attention to creating better systems.

Neptune's conjunct with Chiron in Aquarius (the 'wounded healer') adds another interesting factor. There is a merging and blending of energies, which could be about the balancing effects of Libra, harmonizing and balancing to heal (6th house) our collective (Aquarius) spiritual wounds (Neptune/Chiron) This could create an opening for us to begin identifying with ourselves as spiritual beings, at a collective level, and to start bringing spiritual considerations into account as we make political decisions for our future. At the simplest level it could mean that our political decisions over health and healthcare (6th house) move in a more spiritually (Neptune) healing (Chiron) direction.

According to Melanie Reinhart (Chiron and The Healing Journey) when Chiron is in Aquarius "clarity opens". We seek groups of like-minded people and find our 'soul-tribe'.

On a personal level you will notice these energies affect you to an even greater degree if you have Libra Sun, Moon or Ascendant, and if you have aspects to Neptune and Chiron.

The Full Moon in Pisces ( September 23, 09:17 UTC /GMT o4:17 EDT) offers us another chance to release old patterns by illuminating where we might still be in lower Piscean consciousness. Where are we 'suffering' and allowing ourselves to be a 'victim' of our life situation, when we could move into action and stand in our own power?

After 'peaking' at 09:17 the Moon begins 'waning'. At 09:47:10 the moon leaves Pisces and enters Aries. This is the energy needed to shake of any tendency we might be having to wallow in self-pity (lower Pisces vibration), and take action to change what isn't working in our lives (Aries/spontaneous movement).

At this point the Sun in Libra (balancing), Moon in Aries (spontaneity), and Pluto in Capricorn (revelation) form another 'Cardinal T-square' once again bringing us the powerful cardinal energies of spontaneity and forward movement. It is a window of opportunity when we can use the higher-vibration Aries-type intuition of 'spontaneous knowing' to focus on what is really important and, most importantly, to take appropriate action. Aries is all about action. During this period take some time to meditate, be still, and see where Life is trying to guide you.

It is time to finally shake off any ideas that we might be entertaining, that anybody is 'doing' anything TO us (lower Pisces/victim consciousness), to take the lead (Aries) and take responsibility for ourselves and our own actions. There is also an 'echo' of the Cardinal Cross as the moons nodes in Cancer-Capricorn, remind us of the huge influence of Cancer-Capricorn energy that has been around this year.

It is time now for intuition, clarity, revelation and then action. To stand up and be counted, and to use the ethical energy of Libra, to pay attention to how we distribute the worlds resources (Cancer-Capricorn) for spiritual healing (Neptune/Chiron) and the benefit of humanity (Aquarius). It is also worth remembering that many people have been doing the 'groundwork' for some years now on a personal, spiritual and political level. Fall Equinox is 'harvest time' in the Northern hemisphere: it is now time to 'reap what you sow'.

The Houses of Astrology - Tenth House

The tenth house shows your profession, your reputation and your standing (or lack thereof) in the community. It indicates your ego, status, fame and promotion. It's all about your achievements (realised or dashed) and how the world sees, evaluates and classifies you. The mid-heaven and the tenth house are usually one and the same (but not always) and any planets or aspects to the 10th (or mid-heaven) emphasise how others see you, remembering this area of the chart is where you are socially classified.

Being the house of your public image how you present yourself is of great importance and any planets here will help in understanding how others see you. This house will also tell you something about those who have some 'control' over you (the government, your boss, you're parent! and any other authority figure) study it carefully for planets or aspects to the 10th contain a wealth of information.

No chart can tell you what career you should or should not have but in careful analysis you can work out what kind of work or career you are best suited to. Study the elements, the signs and planets contained within the 10th Some of the Keywords given to the 10th are: Same sex parent: Your reputation: Career: Fame: Goals: Hang-ups! Being the house of hang-ups the 10th house forces us into thinking about what we've done or not done with our lives. Are we living true to ourselves or following in a parent's footstep? It also contains information regarding same sex relationships...

How we handle or accept responsibility is shown by any planets in this house and in life, how we are seen (responsible or otherwise) is how we are 'classified.' Keep in mind this little secret about the 10th for once a year the Sun will enter this sector and during this month we're often embarrassed in some way by something we've said, done or are doing - your public image. When planets transit this house (calling the Moon a planet) for convenience we need to be aware of our public image. Remember, like it or not "first impressions go a long way" when people are forming an opinion of you - particularly job interviews (the house of career, remember/)

Relationships here are impersonal (who was it that said "there's no sentiment in business?") where what you're seen to have accomplished is what counts, you private life or thoughts should not be allowed or seen to interfere. Look to any transits or aspects to this house and see if you're on your way up or on your way down for the 10th house is the pinnacle of the chart...

The following should get your thinking going: The Sun wants to shine; the Moon wants to be remembered. Mercury will give you intelligence; Venus will give you good looks and Mars will give you the energy to achieve whatever it is you want to achieve. Jupiter can take everything for granted whereas Saturn will work long and hard to achieve whatever he/she wants. Uranus will rebel and Neptune looks after everyone or becomes everyone's slave! Pluto will give you power (whether you use this constructively or destructively will depend on other factors in the chart).

Just as the 4th house is considered the emotional house the 10th house is considered the mental house (the 4th being opposite the 10th). The 4th house is the past, the 10th house the future. One is subjective (4th) the other objective (10th). The element of the sign on the cusp of the 10th will give you clues as to what energy is available or what information you can apply in understanding the 10th. For example the element of earth would make you practical, the element of fire would give you enthusiasm. The air element asks you to communicate whereas the water element asks you to take some time out every now and again.

Look to the 2nd house (income) and the 6th house (work) for more information about the 10th for in understanding these houses you'll come to understand the 10th. How one accepts and is seen to handle responsibility determines ones position in life. In career or profession it's usually those who are seen to be filled with confidence to be those favored by those in authority...
