The design of your website should be carried out with extreme caution. Every single detail should be properly attended to. This will ensure that your website serves the purpose it is intended for. Seven rules for creating an efficient website are provided below.

1) Avoid using splash pages
The introductory page of a website is referred to as a splash page. Most of them are designed in a very catchy manner. Some of them include a lot of graphics and animations. Users often find this very uncomfortable and time consuming. Therefore, it is highly recommended that you include only relevant information in the welcome page.

2) Avoid using excessive banner advertisements

People never appreciate it when they come across unwelcome banners on certain websites. They realize that it is part of some advertising campaign and might even result in them being suspicious about your site. So, the best way to go is to include only required links and content in your site. Customers should never feel that they are being forced to buy your products.

3) Enable simple navigation

A good website should be designed in such a way so as to allow even a small child to use it. A person gives 5 seconds to evaluate your site and if they find it too complicated, they would simply press the back button.

4) Provide means for customers to know their position

It so often happens that a user finds himself lost in a website while surfing. So, always provide proper navigation options to ensure that the customer can quickly return to the main menu and sub-menus. This will improve the overall efficiency of your site.

5) Do not include audio on your site

Most people find it a nuisance when an audio is looping on and on in your website. This won't let them read the content of your site properly. And if they don't find an option to turn it on, they would definitely exit your site. Therefore, if you feel that audio plays a vital role on your site, also include options so that the user can control the volume or mute the music.
