Aries Horoscope for 2011

chicago transit authority

Astrologically speaking, there's a lot of planetary action already affecting your sign and in 2011 there's going to be more when Jupiter and Uranus enter your sign.

In 2010 due to the Jupiter cycle, you were in a time of spiritual renewal. Being less self-centred and becoming more the support to others may have been beneficial. You may have experienced others as supporting or nurturing you more at times also in 2010. Maybe you were sensing deeper, more spiritual levels of yourself. Developing on the inner planes, becoming more aware of ingrained patterns, or working on a project behind the scenes will have helped you grow and added to the pool of goodwill, no matter how insignificant or difficult it may have felt at the time.

In 2011 Jupiter will be in working from your sign, Aries from Jan 23rd - June 5th signalling a real growth spurt beginning in your life and your mind will be opening to new fields of interest or intellectual pursuits which get you thinking along very different lines. You'll be entertaining new possibilities as you get a broader perspective and think bigger. The expansive, benevolent influence of Jupiter will encourage you to new depths of understanding and appreciation and could plunge you into unfamiliar environments which teach you a great deal.

From June 5th Jupiter goes into Taurus shifting the emphasis into your financial area and your growth will come more through what is of value to you in life. So this can be more money or possessions available to you, or you are splashing out on whatever might help you expand mentally or physically into new territories. Definitely the time to capitalize on your assets, be they material or in the form of inborn talents. By casting your nets wider, you should do better financially.

The Solar eclipse on Jan 4th in Capricorn will send a pulse of energy through the coming months to make the changes necessary which may help you achieve major goals in your life providing there are strong aspects from the eclipse degree to points in your natal chart. You'll feel it's important to be consistent in taking the initiative in minor or major ways with your personal goals and ambitions and also professional ones which may be due to, or centre around, certain significant relationships.

Over these months you should be pushing yourself and projects forwards steadily and with integrity.

Throughout the whole of 2011 key contacts can help you with establishing a good reputation and the structure or support they provide may help you achieve success.

Over January and February the Jupiter/Uranus conjunction may trigger a growing sense of clarity about direction and you could get stronger evidence of progress as you finally move forward with long-term hopes. Those born April 5th- 8th may have to work harder and jump through a few Saturnian hoops which come in the form of demands from partners or meeting the criteria of certain associates. However, the Jupiter/Uranus conjunction will still be pretty close when Jupiter enters your sign on the 23rd. So this could mean an inspiring 'coming together' of factors or people and a steep learning curve at the same time. This will be most potent in the first 10 days and particularly on Jan 4th on the day of the Solar Eclipse but also thereafter as the energy of change and new potentials will encourage positive change in the professional area or the wider stage over the 2nd half of February.

Uranus will be transiting your sign for many years and during that time you'll be transforming yourself in ways which surprise even you. You will have to be flexible and open-minded as you adapt to new conditions inwardly and outwardly. You could be raising a few eye-brows along the way but this is the spirit of revolution which facilitates evolution and part of a significant growth process even though it may be unpredictable at times. Children of the Ram born in the first week of the sign (approx March 21st - 26th ) will feel this energy most potently at times in 2011 and may be subject to what I call the 'Dorothy' syndrome which lifts you up in a whirlwind and sets you down in a place which is "definitely not Kansas."

Saturn continues its transit of your opposite sign Libra until Fall 2012 which means you are in a new cycle of having to work harder at balancing your needs and requirements with those of others. At times you will be keenly aware of walking in their shoes, at other's you will feel very frustrated and limited by their demands. Keywords like compromise, collaboration, sharing come to mind. Hidden stresses in the fabric of a relationship will become exposed and in some relationships you won't be inclined to paper over the cracks this time.

On another level you are completing a process which began around 14 years ago when you were redefining yourself and your world. Now, that sense of self is being tested and it will be a time of weighing in the balance which alliances are worth the greater effort now demanded from you. This includes co-workers and those of you who work one-to-one with others. Getting along together will call upon your people skills more than ever and not only that, but your patience and consistency too. In both professional and marital or other close relationships, you must do the best you can to understand where they are coming from and what the nature of your relationship is with them. It could be that they are going through a rough patch which puts more burden on your shoulders.

Most of all, you'll strive to honour your commitment to those with whom you have a 'contract'. And if two or more of your loyalties clash, or one outweighs the other in importance, then you'll be figuring out how to balance their needs and requirements with your own or between themselves or attempting to prune away any tangles misunderstandings which threaten to choke more important relationships.

The life-changing force of Pluto continues to be felt across your sign from Capricorn. Choices should be coming from a deeper place now. You'll have an array of new options presenting themselves over the year to come, particularly in the first 6 months. And you should listen to the most primitive part of your knowing, follow gut instinct when making decisions. Over 2011 there will be an increasing urge for you to be free of outlived aspects in relationships or outmoded professional set-ups and be more the real you in what you do. Ariens born 24th-29th March will feel this energy most acutely over 2011.

Pluto will help you dig deeper to decide who you really want to be in the big, bad world and will spark or renew your dedication to achieving certain outcomes personal or otherwise in life. This strong drive growing within you pushes you forward with career related activities, and makes you keener to climb the ladder of success. With the planet of death/rebirth affecting public image, reputation, authority figures it could mean some of you are forced to make a major change or have it thrust upon you by outside forces, ultimately good because it clears the decks for growth in new areas. Finding a fresh direction or another option means steering a new course and for a while there it may take some guts and tenacity but Pluto will give you what you need - but not necessarily what you want.

Jupiter in your sign aspects Pluto from Feb 17th - March 3rd which indicates you could become super-enthusiastic about starting afresh or renewing, rehabilitating, renovating something you want to improve or get on it's feet again but you may run up against the powers that be which resist your ideas. Or the path is strewn with obstacles of other kinds. This doesn't mean you cannot be successful if you are open to reviewing your thinking as there is a risk of being 'over-convinced' or blind to other aspects. So before you give 1000% to something or someone make sure that what you believe is absolutely your own truth and not someone else's version.

Jupiter opposes Saturn March 25th-April 2nd. A time of conflicting energies when you can be successful but you should be cautious when expanding into new areas. Elements of the past or old habits or relationships may be holding you back. Your responsibilities to others could feel more irksome just now and you could be casting around for something which brings variety and new learning. If you get the balance between your expectations and requirements and another's right, then this is a time when the structures you live by may expand considerably into new areas. But remember to be patient and do not take on too much of another's scenario on their terms. If you can strike a balance then this can be a time of achievement and laying foundations for a happy future.

Jupiter trines Pluto July 1st-14th and October 16th- November 3rd. This is a good influence which can help improve the financial picture. if lessons are learned about making choices from deeper levels and agreeing with yourself about who you truly want to be and the role you wish to play. Also, what you need in your life to express this more true-to-life version of yourself within the parameters of the bigger picture, and within the interests of the collective need. So this isn't just about yourself, this is about you as a part of a greater scenario and so taking a more philosophical view would be advised. This is a time when you can untangle problems and get things straightened out between you and someone which may have been causing you grief. This is also a time when there can be professional success or you gain some kind of recognition.

The entrance of Uranus into your Sun-sign on March 12th there to stay for about 7 yrs will bring opportunities to carve out a new image for yourself and others will begin to see you differently. Especially those born in the first week of Aries, this is the start of a time of massive change in your life and, at times, you'll get the taste of a faster paced vibration which supports unusual, unconventional or alternative type activities and signals that some surprises could ambush you along the way and catapult you out of your familiar box. However it is for you personally, things won't be dull!

Uranus will be in challenging aspect to Pluto July 8th- August 16th . This will be a recurring aspect in our skies until into 2015 - really getting into gear from June 2012.

This aspect is 'sudden event' territory and can mean an unexpected, potentially life-changing chance for things to change for the better. More likely if you keep your options open and go with the flow of bigger events outside your control, and it may not be easy.

This is a significant time in history when much of what has traditionally been taken for granted - economically, culturally, socially will be subject to deep transformative change. So the advice is to prepare for this by creating a plan B starting from now, which may mean finding ways to be more self-sufficient, less dependent on outside lines of supply, or stocking up on certain things.

At times, even though things may be happening fast, try not to throw the baby out with the bath-water.

If you are centred when you make decisions you will be able to seize opportunities for positive change and get ahead of the rest. Or find yourself involved in something at the leading edge and that's a place where there is never a crowd, only a chosen few. But in some ways this is where you feel most at home Aries, the warrior-pioneer of the zodiac.

The 2nd Solar Eclipse on June 1st in Gemini is in your communications sector and if there are strong aspects from the eclipse degree to important points in your natal chart, then improvements can be made over coming months in this area. So, you should be getting educated or being the educator, the promoter. Be more creatively self-expressive, make your voice heard. Write the thesis or the book. Connect with that special person or go to that special place. Networking and I.T are also favoured.

A 3rd Solar Eclipse in Cancer on July 1st means that if there are strong aspects from the eclipse degree to your natal points, then this energy will encourage home improvements or reorganizing things at the very foundations of your life with kith and kin or neighbourhood or tribe. Looking within asking deeper questions and taking steps to improve your relations with nearest and dearest too. And being more community minded from your own back yard and over the wires.

The 4th Solar eclipse in Sagittarius on November 25th will highlight travel and education and academic achievement, so, if there are strong aspects from the eclipse degree to points in your natal chart then take a trip, or do any other thing which broadens the mind. Go in for meditation or yoga. Cast your nets wide to attract the teacher or the unfamiliar environment you seek.

There are 2 Lunar Eclipses in 2011 with shorter-term effects but should be mentioned. The first is June 15th in 24 degrees Sagittarius and the second one is December 10th 18 degrees Gemini. If an important point in your natal chart is triggered then for the following 4 weeks you will have the chance to improve things in your communications sector. This relates to new connections, education, media, creative self expression buying/selling etc.

Neptune has been making it's influence felt in the area of hopes and dreams networking, group gatherings for several years now. You may be involved with 'good causes' over this time and have been inclined to give freely of your time and energy to something which informs, uplifts or in some way improves the lives of others or the planet. Maybe you have used this energy to be a good support to those in need or perhaps gone above and beyond the call of duty to serve the group ethic, possibly through use of information technology and social networking.. However it is, you will be idealistic about a cause or movement bigger and more important than yourself or any individual alone. You may be swept along by events or gatherings of those of like mind who are working for the good of others in some way.

Neptune's transit of this area is slowly drawing to a close and between April 5th and August 5th 2011 will slide into its home sign Pisces for a short visit. For you this means you will feel a pull to function from deeper, more self-aware levels. Some of you may become interested in Yoga, meditation and healing practices. Underlying this transit is a search for oneness of being and connectedness with all life. Some of you could have psychic experiences or strange encounters which are esoteric in some way. This long transit of many years may have you working hard in selfless ways from behind the scenes in a minor or major way. Early Ariens will feel the effect of the Neptune most potently in 2011. Neptune finally takes up position in it's home sign Pisces from February 2012.

Your ruling planet Mars will stay for a lengthy period in Virgo from Nov 11th and until July 2012, an extraordinarily long transit dynamically activating your area of work and health. So there will be the demand that you throw yourself into getting things done which show practical results. This energy works best when you have your own project to develop or can play by your own rules. Great for an individual creative venture needing hard (sometimes physical) work. If you are working with/for others try to work alone as often as possible. This position of Mars relates to health matters and you should be pro-active with something which improves well-being for yourself or others. You may be physically setting things up in a way which allows you to make better choices.

Bodybuilding Training Program For Building Muscle Mass

chicago transit authority

If your objective is to gain a little bit of weight in your body building endeavor, the only thing you have to do is to open your mouth a little bit more. This does not mean you order a bushel of your favorite junk right away. We are building not destroying your body. Remember?

Majority of body builders have a fast metabolism due to a hyperactive lifestyle. As such, any body builder who wants to add some slabs on the frame and push the weight machine needle a little bit high must be very cautious about the net food intake. The objective should be increasing the number of meals and their quality so as to give the body some more fiber and carbs. How can that be done, in basic terms? This way, please.

Increase calorie intake in the diet to begin with. Ensure that each meal has high quantities of carbohydrates and animal proteins. However, don't just eat and eat, rather spread these evenly across the whole day. Stop eating 2-3 square meals in a day and break them up to 7-8 meals to ensure that the nutrients are not depleted fully at any one time. The body should be having some readily available nutrients at all time during the day and this also improves digestion and absorption efficiencies.

Make the diet fiber rich and ensure that you never eat a meal without high fiber levels. Fiber is very important I a diet essentially because it eases off the digest transit otherwise called transport of digested nutrients. If the transport of digest allows you to consume a little bit more and more regularly. High content fiber ensures that you don't have the bloated feeling after meals and also ensures that the digestive organs are kept cleaner and uncongested.

At this point it is important that you don't confuse or mistake high calorie meals with fatty foods. Avoid totally any type of food with high levels of concentrated fats like burgers and the pizzas because even if the have high calories levels, they constitute far too much saturated fats. Even without considering the health risks associated with saturates, this type of weight if accumulated, makes you look worse than being skinny.

Also remember that if you eat and fail to exercise adequately, the weight gain might become a disaster. Increase of frequency and quantity of dietary nutrients should be accompanied by corresponding exercise intensity. This will make the weight gained to be converted into solid muscle fibers and tissues rather than fats kept under the skin or adjacent to body organs. With an adequately high powered diet and correct exercises' ratio, a body builder will accumulate a healthy weight and that which is awesome to look at. Don't get fat, grow big.

It is important that you assign yourself adequate rest periods after workouts. A day off after two weeks of workouts helps keep the body building venture motivated. Without brakes, the program becomes a chore soon loathed and unappreciated.

Elderly Drivers: Stop or Go?

chicago transit authority

Without so much as a tap on the brakes, my aunt whizzed through another stop sign.

"What are you doing?" I shrieked. "That was a stop sign."

"Oh," she replied rather offhandedly, "they just put those there so you'll look before you go into an intersection."

That was the day I stopped riding with my aunt but not the day she stopped driving. From then on, I had visions of an enormous pink Chevy leading a parade of cascading accidents. And I wasn't far from wrong.

She drove with what she knew to be the utmost caution. . . .never exceeding 30 miles per hour, even on I35! She expected, even demanded that traffic would give way to her like the seas parted for Moses. Sometimes, it did. But mostly, driving with her was a harrowing experience with no end in sight.

So, when do the elderly become a menace on the roads? And, what can you do when they refuse to give up the keys? Here are a few suggestions I've found.

Causes for Concern

Poor Vision - Cataracts, glaucoma, and macular degeneration can reduce visual acuity and limit visual fields, so a yearly eye exam is imperative for the elderly driver. Ask the doctor about driving, and don't take the word of the elderly driver on the results of her exam.

Poor Hearing - Something as simple as a clogged ear passage can create a hearing loss. A doctor can identify the problem and offer solutions, so have elderly hearing checked yearly.

Poor Flexibility and Limited Range of Motion - Good drivers rely on looking out rear and side windows as well as checking rearview mirrors. When a driver lacks the ability to turn his head and shoulders to look outside, he may not see oncoming vehicles or obstacles traveling in the car's blindspot.

Reduced Reaction Time - As we age, we slow down, and reaction times diminish. Keeping extra space between the driver's and other cars can help reduce the likelihood of accidents, but there comes a time when reactions are too slow for road safety. Click here for a reaction time test that will show you graphically how far you travel after you see a red light!

How to Get (and Keep) the Keys

A few states, , require road tests for persons over 65 when their licenses are renewed. An additional sss states require vision tests with license renewals. Consider yourself fortunate if you live in one of these states because it may be that the state will refuse to renew the elder's license. If you live elsewhere, here are a few tricks to try.

Talk with your Elder about the Convenience of Mass Transit - Many mass transit authorities have special services and special fares for the elderly and disabled. Check with your local transit authority. And talk with your elder about how nice it is to be able to enjoy the scenery while someone else does the driving.

Give Your Elder a Refresher Course - Not only will a refresher course improve road awareness, it may help your elder earn a discount on his car insurance. Courses and informative pamphlets are available from the AARP, AAA, and the AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety. You'll find links to these sites at the end of this article.

Report unsafe driving to your local Department of Public Safety. They may have additional help to offer you.

"Break" the Car - My teenagers unplugged a few vital wires when my father, who suffers from Alzheimer's disease, refused to relinquish the keys. We knew his cognitive ability was far too impaired for him to recognize the problem, and he was always comforted when we said we'd have the car repaired "soon."

Remove the Keys - Distract your elder from finding "lost" keys by offering an immediate alternative way to go somewhere. While this may be the most unpleasant way to stop your elder from driving, remember that you are not only protecting him but all the rest of us as well.

And what happened to my aunt? She got a ticket from a wonderful traffic officer whom we all blessed on a daily basis! Fearing the loss of her auto insurance, she voluntarily gave up driving.

Pluto - One Last Dance, Then Off to Work

chicago transit authority

June 14 - November 26, 2008

I don't talk much about Pluto transits, because Pluto is a very slow outer planet that takes about 250 years to make one orbit around the Sun. Pluto is in retrograde motion almost as much as he is moving direct, but this Pluto retrograde is special. This will be Pluto's last adventure in Sagittarius for our lifetimes, and our children's and grandchildren's lifetimes. And, its all happening just in time for the 2008 presidential elections.

Pluto is the planet of death and rebirth, and he digs deep to uncover secrets. I wonder how our elections will turnout? Presently we are seeing more documentaries and news programs exposing the truth about the voting corruption in the 2000 presidential elections. Also, we are being educated about the decisions made in the White House, the CIA, and the Military concerning our involvement in the war in Iraq. When planets are on the cusps between signs, they are the most touchy. Pluto has been in Sagittarius since 1995, but now (2007 and 2008), as he crosses into Capricorn, is when we are seeing the big flare-ups.

Pluto actually left Sagittarius and entered Capricorn back on January 25th, but he turned retrograde in April and is now moving back into Sagittarius for the last time. Its time for one last dance, one last adventure, before Pluto moves to a more serious focus. Sagittarius loves to laugh and wander, but Capricorn represents hard work and discipline. Pluto's last few months in Sagittarius may bring us to a higher awareness, especially at a community level. A few heroes could emerge as Pluto traverses his eleventh hour in Sagittarius, and we may actually rescue ourselves from some of the government corruption that has been going on since Nixon. We may decide to stand up and take responsibility for our governments.

Pluto will enter Capricorn just a few months before our next president will take office. The last time Pluto was in Capricorn was in the 1760's and the 1770's. Capricorn represents authority figures, and Pluto brings destruction and rebirth -- the American Revolution. There was also the French Revolution and the establishment of Napoleon as a modern dictator. I wonder how Pluto in Capricorn will affect our next president and congress? Don't forget to vote!

Obviously, Pluto will be at 29 degrees Sagittarius throughout most of this transit, so its time to look at your natal chart. Any planets or power points at 29 degrees (plus or minus 2 degrees) in Sagittarius, Pisces, Gemini, or Virgo will be dealing with endings and beginnings. If you have any planets or power points at 29 degrees (plus or minus 2 degrees) in Aries or Leo, you may find you are able to make powerful changes in your life at this time.

Slowly But Surely

chicago transit authority

Last year, the Malaysian government announced that it was taking the green drive seriously as the nation wants to save on unnecessary energy costs through sustainable development.

"It is not a question of using less electricity but using electricity in an efficient manner. There is a cost for producing each unit of energy. There is a cost to the nation. If we can be energy efficient, we are helping the nation to save energy costs," Yang Berhormat Datuk Peter Chin, Minister of Energy, Green Technology and Water told Property Report in an exclusive interview last year.

Green technology, which is the know-how or equipment that reduces the impact on the environment, has been identified by the Malaysian government as a major growth area.

Increasingly, it has also become an important consideration for foreign investors.

Malaysia realises that in order to continue attracting foreign investments, it has to adopt sustainable development initiatives like those seen in Singapore, Japan and the United Kingdom.

On a national level the Ministry of Energy, Green Technology and Water had rolled out a public awareness programme last July to coincide with the launch of the energy efficient National Energy Centre by Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak.

On a citywide level, the Mayor of Kuala Lumpur, Date' Ahmad Fuad Ismail, had announced a slew of measures to make it a greener city.

Some progress made

Fast-forward a year later, Malaysia has made some progress in its pursuit of sustainable development. In Kuala Lumpur itself, Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) has introduced a park-and-ride scheme to cope with traffic congestion in the Klang Valley area.

The aim is to reduce the nearly one million cars entering into the city each morning that has contributed to the noise and air pollution. However, this measure has so far achieved limited success due to the lack of public awareness and the lack of planning of its railway system.

"It is more convenient for me to drive to work as there is no LRT station near to where I live in Kepong. Traffic congestion is still the same. A lot of us are not aware of the park-and-ride scheme," says Ryan Yap, an architect.

"There's always been a park-and-ride scheme in LRT stations located in the outskirts of Kuala Lumpur. However, I don't really park-and-ride as it is easier for me to drive directly to work," says Andrew Sin, a lawyer who lives in Old Klang Road.

Realising this, DBKL is also working with Syarikat Prasarana Negara Berhad to make the transit system more seamless.

The entire rail system is currently being overhauled to encourage more Malaysians to take public transport and thereby, reduce traffic congestion.

Milestone achieved in the property industry
DBKL and the Malaysian Institute of Architect also came up with a Green Building Index (GBI) in May last year to help developers make buildings greener.

However, even before the GBI came to fruition, some developers had already started implementing their own green initiatives. In 2007, Ken Holdings Bhd unveiled the company's then-latest project Ken Bangsar, a residential development that was touted to be a trendsetter.

This year, Ken Bangsar was classified a Gold rating under the GBI as well as the Gold Mark certification from Singapore's Building and Construction Authority (BCA).

In April, the country's real estate industry achieved a milestone in its journey towards carbon neutrality.

Sime Darby Property Berhad (SDP) signed a technical collaboration agreement with some of the world's leading green technology and solution providers for its Sime Darby Idea House.

This carbon-neutral concept dwelling is a collaboration involving the world's leading technology and solutions providers such as architects, engineers, landscape designers, urbanists, contractors and suppliers that minimises its impact on the environment and is energy efficient.

"The first-of-its-kind in Southeast Asia, the Sime Darby Idea House was conceived as a test bed for new ideas in sustainable architecture, from which we hope to incorporate the learning and technologies from this house into future development in our townships as part of our commitment to build sustainable communities", said Dato' Tunku Putra Badlishah, managing director of Sime Darby Property Berhad.

The Sime Darby Idea House is one of the two pilot projects for the GBI certification in the residential category.

Some of the green building technologies that will be incorporated into the Idea House include 100 percent recyclable roof system, rainwater harvesting system, FSC certified timber products and 100 percent recyclable kitchen cabinets among others.

However, Malaysia still faces a major hurdle in changing the mindset of old school developers who are still unwilling to make the leap, as going green is not cheap.

Recently, the Ministry of Energy, Green Technology and Water announced that it was planning a ministerial roundtable on green technology in June or July with selected Asean countries that include Australia, Britain, China, Germany, India, Japan, South Korea and the European Union.

Perhaps with this government led initiative, such developers will soon be made more aware on how they can achieve profits in the long-run but without soaring emissions.

Exchange Server Setup - Setup Public TLS

chicago transit authority

For those organizations that wish to secure as much of their mail transit as possible, it is necessary to configure Public TLS for the Internet-facing connectors. If you have a single Edge or Hub Transport server handling all of the organization's mail traffic, this process is simple. If you have separate Send and Receive servers, multiple sites with public connectors, or both, it is simply repeating the same 4 step process for each of the public facing servers.

Step 1 - confirm the FQDN It is important to make 110% sure that you request the certificate with the proper name to prevent certificate errors due to certificate mismatches. The name you need to register the certificate for needs to match the FQDN that your connector is responding with. If you look at the connector properties, you need to locate the FQDN for your connector. For our purposes, we will assume the connector to be registered to mail.example.com.

Step 2 - Request the certificate The first step in the certificate process is creating a certificate request file. To make your life much simpler, this process should be run on the server the certificate will be installed on. There is a way to transfer the certificate to a different server, but there is no need to add the complexity to the process unless there is a real need. To create the request file, you need to launch the Exchange Powershell and use the New-ExchangeCertificate commandlet. The command should be:

New-ExchangeCertificate -DomainName "fqdn" -FriendlyName "TLSCert" -GenerateRequest:$True -Keysize 1024 -path "filename" -privatekeyExportable:$true -subjectName "Subject" where "fqdn" is the FQDN for your connector, "TLSCert" is a simple name for your certificate request, "path" is what the filename is for the certificate request, and "Subject" is the distinguished name for your certificate.

For our example domain the full command would be something like:

New-ExchangeCertificate -DomainName mail.example.com -FriendlyName ExamplTLSCert -GenerateRequest:$True -Keysize 1024 -path c:example.req -privatekeyExportable:$true -subjectName "c=us, o=Example Corp, CN=mail.example.com"

You can then work with the Certificate Authority of your choice to request the final certificate. Note: The subject name for your request is important. Most CAs will not process a certificate request is the Organization listed in the o= portion of the name does not have rights to the domain listed in the cn= portion. Note: Some Authorities will want you to provide them with the file itself, while others will ask for the text contents of the file. Please read the instructions carefully when requesting the certificate from your authority.

Step 3 - Install the certificate Within a few days, you will receive the completed certificate file from your CA of choice. You now simply need to import it using the Import-ExchangeCertificate commandlet. Simply save the certificate file in an easily accessed location, such as the root of the C Drive. Then run import-exchangecertificate -path "path to certificate"

The system will report back the "thumbprint" of the certificate. Pay attention to this as you will need it in the next step.

Step 4 - Activate the certificate Now that the certificate has been installed on the local machine, you simply need to instruct Exchange to start using it. This is done with the enable-exchangecertificate commandlet. To do this, you run enable-exchangecertificate -thumbprint "thumbprint" -services SMTP

Note: To save time and typing you can combine steps 3 and 4 into a single command line. The full command line would then be: import-exchangecertificate -path "path to certificate"| enable-exchangecertificate -services SMTP

Now that you have TLS configured on your Exchange system, you will likely want to create 3 separate Send Connectors on each of your servers responsible for sending messages to the Internet.

The first should be configured for "TLS Required" for your trusted partners, so that all traffic between you and your closest partners/customers is transmitted encrypted. The routing rules for this connector should be set such that the domain names of your partners are included in the connector configuration. This is done from the Exchange Powershell using the Set-SendConnector commandlet with the "-RequireTLS:$true" parameter.

The second send connector should be configured to never use TLS, so you can simply add domains to the routing rules when you encounter an organization with an expired certificate or other TLS misconfiguration that prevents mail delivery. This is done from the Exchange Powershell using the Set-SendConnector commandlet with the "-IgnoreSTARTTLS:$true" parameter.

The last send connector will be the "de facto" send connector that will use "opportunistic TLS" to handle the majority of mail domains. This one requires the least effort as Opportunistic TLS is the default.
