Railfanning Metra and Amtrak on Chicago's Near South Side
Descriptions of each train are in the captions in the video. Got some pretty good action today in and around Amtrak and Metra's Canal St Yard and shop complex, mostly from above on the 18th St bridge. Seen are various switching moves in the yard, Metra Heritage Corridor, Rock Island District, BNSF and Southwest Service trains, plus Amtrak's California Zephyr, with some views from the CTA Orange Line, and up-close, in Chinatown next to the diamonds at Canal St, just south of the lift bridge leading to the yard, all in great views of the Loop skyline.

Chicago's CTA Christmas Train 2008
Once again the Chicago Transit Authority fielded its seven car Holiday Train featuring Santa's Express and scheduled the decorated train on all "L" transit lines in the city. The rolling celebration features bright decorations, Holiday music, costumed elves and Santa helpers and the jolly fat man, himself, Santa Claus in a sleigh pulled by reindeer perched on a decorated flat car that rides in the middle of the train. The schedules are widely posted and at station after station, the train is greeted with proud parents and excited children in tow.
